Week 10: Gooch and Pete right the ship

So I had lunch with Pete Carroll this week and you can count on 2 things happening this weekend.

Gooch gets the Black Box spitting out winners again and Carroll fixes whatever is ailing the USC defense

  1. USC (-10) at Arizona State
  2. Texas A&M (-3) at Colorado

Unprecedented Bone Picks

Gooch took the computers 5* lock in Cal for himself, so I gotta go out and find more.  But I still gotta call it out below even though I can’t own it.

Too Good to be True

A red hot Cal team who lost to the marquee match up of college football – USC/OR – is only giving up a TD to ASU.  Yes, the ASU who  is likely the most undeserving 4-3 school in Pac 10 history.   They struggled through the Washington school, beat two near AA teams earlier this year, and lost to the other three opponents.  This one is crazy.  20 pt bow out by cal.  Gooch stole this, but it’”s my TGTBT.

Best Bet

Wazzu wazzu wazzu.   You can’t score and you can’t stop the score.  ND is in bad need of pummeling as many teams as they can.  Wazzu, don’t you know they scheduled you in for an annual 50 pt blow out.  They don’t know who you are, you’re like the dork who is invited to the party so the cool kids can copy their biology test.  The line says 27, but I say 42.  Give up 27 points to ND.  This is their chance to at least make a bid at Clausen for heisman by granting him permission to throw 450 yards today.  Didn’t you hear?  The Alamo Dome was selected just to make you a pinata.  Wazzu breakfast tacos Monday at USAA

Most Intriguing

While it not yet November, the month Pete Carroll never loses a game, the USC team is finally starting to show signs of life.  Last week Barkeley had a so so game and bradford lit up the stadium.  The Rojo catch was spectacular.  USC finally showed its alternate weapons and its just in time for the final run of the season…. another season of “would coulda” for Pete and his troops.  What we see here today is a battle and as always, the USC defense will show up when needed.  This is a 31-21 romp in the park for USC.  Tomorrow is November and it’s perfection from here on out.

USC + ND…. why would I ever chose these teams?  It should have been Cal and USC.  Damn gooch :)

Shortened Week

So I have to tune tune tune the computers.  Sick of not being on top.

So I looked for the first two plays that came out >.1.7 in my system.  Got ‘em.

Michigan is favored by 3 in my computer, so as I look at the +4.5, I can’t believe it.  Getting Clark to make mistakes is as simple as getting him in traffic and getting close to him.  While he’s a special kind of player, he gets flustered and makes mistakes.  RichRod will be blitzing all day.  Michigan at home.  Go blue or be blue.

UCLA is in a hard slide and AZ is close to being a perfect team and top 20, but the computers have Chow prepared to score 35 points tomorrow and frankly +7.5 is 5 too many.  UCLA gets back on track and wins this game outright.

Go with the blues Saturday.  You will be a happy camper.

Must win weekend!!!

Tenn +14  Are things really startin to gel for the father/son coaching tandem in Nashville?

BYU +2.5  Will BYU blow another chance to shine on the national stage this weekend?

Simply – Yes and No.  We’re going 2-0 this weekend folks.  The Gooch may be on a hot streak, but if he slips, we could be looking at identical 5-3 marks heading into a nightmarish end on Halloween for one of us.  T-Bone had his fill last month, and now it’s Blue time.

Week 8: Gooch on cruise control

Gooch sees some eye-opening picks out east this week.  Both of these 2 ACC conference leaders should beat their brethern by 2 TDs each.  Get on these lines before they move past 7 points.

  1. Miami (-5)  at home against Clemson
  2. Georgia Tech (-6) against Virginia

Round Two Decided Early

College football handicapping has never been easier for the Gooch…

Unless the Gooch refuses to place picks in week 8 and forfeits the round, he is in the driver’s seat to win round two.  After another set of lackluster weeks from Blue and T Bone, they both stand at 2-4, while the Gooch is proudly atop a 5-1 record, making the three of them a 9-9 total for round 2.  T Bone thought he had a perfect round until that tip ball by Rojo enabled the Irish back in the game.  Unfortunately no computer can account for rusty hands.

T Bone will be further tweaking his well documented system that still has him winning 72.1% of his games this year.  The last three weeks have been below average, but expect him to come back in a furious last third of the year before we head into championship weeks and bowl games.  Which leads me to repeat the stated rules of the championship week and bowl games round…  It’s winner take all… Pick 10 games between from the conference championships and bowl games.  Also, you must pick the National Championships game as on of your games and include a predicted total score.  In the event there is a tie, the one closest to the total score wins.  We may let other handicappers from around the globe in on the final round to make it more interesting!
